Stitcher and/or Costume Crafts: South Pacific

Camelot Theatre is hiring a Stitcher possibly with Craft experience for Part Time basis for an upcoming production of South Pacific. Work begins ASAP. Show opens December 2, 2016. Various afternoon & evening hours throughout the week, but we are flexible with schedule. This is a specialized show, Period 1940's WWII, we have navy sailors, Island looks, military Nurses. Most of the Stitching work will be with basic Costume alterations: hems, taking in period uniforms and or dresses to fit. Costume Quick rigging with snaps/magnets/Velcro & zippers. Some special costume build projects will be needed. You must be able to follow and build from a pattern. There are a number of Costume Craft projects available also, painting of shoes, beading island jewelry, (one scene will be Faux Hula Skirt costumes crafted from Fish Net, Seas Shells, Comic Strip Print fabric, Raffia, silk greens, Navy Base/Beach type supplies). Must be handy with a glue gun & paint brush or spray can.

Must be able to use different types of domestic sewing machines Interlock. Knowledgeable of sewing equipment & supplies. You will need to be efficient at Hand Sewing, mainly for Snaps/Buttons, Magnet Quick rigging. Tailoring type experience is a plus but not required.

Basic knowledge of costume/clothing construction techniques is needed for clear communication between your main supervisor the Assistant Costume Designer.

You will complete alterations from Costume fittings notes.

Position requirements:

Strong time management skills with ability to meet costume build deadlines. Strong attention to detail & accuracy. Capacity for extended concentration & focus. Comfortable dealing with changing priorities & assignments. Follows directions well & can work for periods of time without direct supervision. Is a Team Player & Ability to work with varied personalities is a must. Must have minimum of 2 years Clothing / and or Costume Construction experience.

Theatre Costume experience a plus but not required. Film, TV, Print or Cosplay/Renaissance Fair experience accepted.

Our team has various experience: Some have worked for the local Shakespeare Theatre and have helped build amazing costumes & also for the University. Other team members have Film, Broadway & Opera Costume/Wardrobe experience. The Costume Shop is in our Theatre, so transporting of costumes takes minimal effort. We are a group that strives for providing a “polished look” for our shows here at the Camelot Theatre.

*One time Stipend paid, once job is complete, Opening Night of the Show.

    Box Office/House Management

    The Camelot Theatre Company is seeking a qualified person to perform box office and house management duties on a daily basis. Duties include opening and closing the box office and house, selling tickets and concessions, answering phones, using ticketing software, providing theatre information and cleaning duties. Must be over 21 with a full service OLCC Servers Permit (or ability to obtain one quickly), have a high school diploma and be able to pass a criminal background check. Candidate needs the ability to create and maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a professional manner; ability to execute tasks and collaborate efficiently; ability to maintain a professional attitude in a fast-paced environment; provide excellent customer service and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    This position is part-time (15-20 hours per week), year-round and offers a minimum hourly wage with complimentary tickets to Camelot productions.
