VOLUNTEER Wardrobe Run Crew

La Cage Aux Folles...We've got Sequins & Feathers & lots of High Heels & even some Leather! It will be a fun....busy time! The Costume Designer for La Cage Aux Folles has planned for some very elaborate costumes for this production. This may be one of the biggest shows Camelot has done!! We will be needing 2 volunteers to work on the Wardrobe Run Crew for Dress Rehearsals & all performances for La Cage. 1st Dress is June 19th & the Show opens June 24th & runs till July 31st (Tech on the 18th may include costumes, TBD)

ABOUT THE POSITION: The majority of the men will be wearing lots of undergarments so their basically in a costume under their main costumes. There wont really be any nudity to deal with. Quick Change costumes will be rigged with Magnets, whopper Snaps, zippers & maybe some velcro. Some minor emergency repairs will be needed during the run of the show. For example, sewing a snap back on a garment, stitching up a small rip so it wont get bigger etc. If not handy sewing but interested , we in the Costume Shop can teach you, its pretty easy. Laundry and Major repairs will be handled by Design Team, so no need to worry about that. You need to be pretty quick on your feet. Comfortable getting up and down, is necessary for setting out presets & being on knees to help with Shoe changes. You would possibly be carrying a laundry basket full of high Heels & dresses from one side of the stage to the other, very QUICKLY. Agile hands are needed, helping to snap up a row of snaps fast or unzip dresses.

The 2 volunteers will be assigned a few Actors that they will be responsible for their costumes. Doing basic pre-Show costume Prep for them. Helping or doing most of pre-setting of costumes for quick changes. "Tracking" costumes during the show: moving them for different changes. Assisting the actors with the actual Quick Changes & working with them after the show to return costumes to there proper location. Also just keeping an eye on them when they are about to go on stage, making sure they look great! Each Wardrobe volunteer will be provided with backstage basic supplies, a BITELITE for Quick Changes, miny sewing repair kit, spare heel grips etc.

We would like the volunteers to come in for a couple hours a few days prior to dress rehearsal (DR) to assist in Dressing Room Set up & receive their Actor assignments & instructions. There may be Quick Change rehearsals called prior to DR. The Wardrobe Crew volunteers will work closely with the Costume Design team, Costume Shop Manager & SM/ASMs

*This is a volunteer position. Adults only apply. Considering both Male & Females for the positions as long as your polite, responsible & professional! Backstage/Costume experience a plus but not required.
